How Bail Bonds Work In Santa Monica

When anyone is arrested in the city of Santa Monica, he or she will usually be taken to the Santa Monica Jail, which is located at Santa Monica Police Department. The Santa Monica Police Department is located at 333 Olympic Dr. Santa Monica, CA 90401. When the arrestee arrives at the Santa Monica Police Department, an officer on duty at the jail will confiscate all of his or her personal belongings that the arrestee may have on him or her at the time. After that, the jailer will then ask the defendant some personal questions such as his or her name and date of birth.

This step begins the booking process and the jailer will then take a photo of the arrestee so he or she could input all of that information in the Los Angeles Sheriff’s department. Once that step is complete, the defendant will then be taken to complete the fingerprint scan, which is done via a machine called the Live Scan Machine. The purpose of this step is for the jailer to determine if the arrestee has any outstanding warrants or is wanted by any other agency in the country. This process could take anywhere from 45 minutes to a few hours for the results from the Live Scan machine to get back to the Jailer. The jailer cannot legally clear any inmate for bail until he or she has verified the results from the fingerprint scan.

After the jailer receives the results, he or she will then determine if the arrestee is cleared for bail and then assign the defendant his or her court date and the bail amount. In order for any bail bonds agency to bail out your loved one, the defendant will have to cleared for bail by the jailer first. Once the agent finds out if the arrestee is cleared for bail, he or she will then verify some information with you and have you fill out some paperwork necessary for the jail release process at the Santa Monica Jail. The agent will then ask you for the defendant’s name and date of birth so they could verify some bail information with the jailer and the agent will then usually ask for your relationship to the arrestee. Once this is all complete, bail bonds agent will then turn in all of the paperwork to the jailer. The jailer will then verify all of the information and proceed to complete the final steps of the jail release process.

After the jailer verifies that all of the information is correct in the paperwork, the jailer will then complete the jail release process for Santa Monica. This release process could take anywhere from an hour to several hours depending on how busy the jail is at that time. When someone is out of jail on a bond, it is vital that they attend all of their court dates on time in order for them to not get arrested again. The court will have to issue an arrest warrant for the defendant if he or she misses any of the court dates. Once the case is completed, then the bail bond will be exonerated and the defendant will be sentenced by the judge.
